HTAC’s Commitment to Education

Help the Afghan Children (HTAC) is dedicated to improving education access and quality in Afghanistan, especially for children in underserved and conflict-affected areas. Our education initiatives include:

  • Community-Based Education (CBE): Establishing and supporting local classrooms in remote areas where formal schooling is unavailable.
  • Accelerated Learning Programs (ALP): Providing fast-track education for children and youth who missed schooling due to conflict or displacement.
  • Teacher Training & Capacity Building: Enhancing the skills of educators to ensure effective, child-friendly teaching methods.
  • Peace Education & Conflict Resolution: Integrating peacebuilding lessons into school curricula to promote tolerance and non-violence.
  • Literacy and Reading Programs: Addressing high illiteracy rates through initiatives like “Read Afghanistan,” improving children’s reading comprehension.
  • Girls’ Education Empowerment: Promoting gender equality by ensuring more girls have access to safe and inclusive learning environments.
  • School Infrastructure & Learning Materials: Providing essential educational resources, including books, stationery, and digital tools, to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Advocacy for Education Rights: Working with communities and policymakers to strengthen national education policies and ensure every child’s right to learn.

Through these efforts, HTAC is shaping a future where Afghan children receive quality education and become empowered, productive members of society.

HTAC through Community-Based Education (CBE) and Accelerated learning program (ALP) in Sarepul Province aims to bring education to all children, especially girls. It supports the national curriculum by providing exams and teacher training. The initiative also organizes events to promote education within communities. This project impacts over 7,267 children, giving them hope and a brighter future

Sponsorship Program

In partnership with Save the Children International/Global Fund, this project ensures safe and inclusive education for children up to grade six in Jawzjan and Saripul provinces. The program also includes Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) classes, ensuring that young children receive foundational learning and developmental support before entering primary school.It strengthens community engagement, promotes child protection, and supports caregivers to provide for children's basic needs. it impacts more than 19330 individuals, including males, females, and children.

BMZ- Education in Emergincy

This emergency education program, backed by Save the Children International/BMZ, ensures that children in conflict-affected areas of Jawzjan province continue learning in safe environments. It establishes and maintains 65 community-based education (CBE) classes, enhances teacher training, and engages communities in promoting education. Covering Sheberghan, Aqcha, and Faiz Abad districts, benefiting 1507 children.

Funded by the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), this project instills the principles of peace, cooperation, and non-violent conflict resolution among Afghan youth in Istalif district of Kabul province. Through structured peace education curricula, students in eight participating schools learn about empathy, tolerance, and peaceful problem-solving. The program fosters a culture of respect and understanding, equipping young people with the skills to resist violence and contribute to a more peaceful society. By integrating peace education into school environments, the initiative ensures that students internalize these values early, reducing the risk of future conflicts.
